Spring Training

Spring Training with Gardens Synchronicity is a great way to work on your individual skating skills and your synchronized skating skills to make you stronger skater and teammate!

Spring Training is open to ALL skaters, regardless of age, experience, ability, or even team that you skate on. So, even if you are not a member of the Gardens Synchronicity organization, you are welcome to come to spring training!

Spring Training will be on Sundays on the following dates:
- May 8th
- May 15th
- June 5th
- June 12th
- June 19th

Skaters under age 18 will be on the ice from 4:00 - 4:45pm, and skaters 18+ will be on the ice from 4:45 - 5:30pm.

The cost is $20 per session, which is less than the rate for a LTS lesson, and is 15 minutes longer! Gardens Synchronicity coaches as well as several guest coaches will lead these spring training sessions where your skating skills are sure to bloom!

EVERYONE is Welcome!

We have teams for skaters of all ages, all abilities, and all commitment levels. We have skaters from Maryland, DC, Virginia, and Pennsylvania skate with us, so anyone from the DMV is encouraged to join! With 5 current teams, there is a place for everyone! Recently, our Masters Team returned from the National Synchronized Skating Championship, where they finished in 8th place, marking the FIRST national ranking for Gardens Synchronicity! We would love for you to come skate with us to learn what synchronized skating is all about, and what Gardens Synchronicity has to offer. Next season it could be YOU competing at the National Synchronized Skating Championships!

When and Where can I try synchro!?

We have two events coming up for any interested skaters:

Try Synchro Day - Friday, March 25th - FREE!
Tryouts - Friday, April 1st - $25 per skater

For both events, skaters under age 18 will be on the ice from 6:10 - 7:05pm, and skaters age 18 and over will be on the ice from 7:05 - 8:05pm. Both sessions will be at The Gardens Ice House, in Laurel, MD.

Pre-registration is HIGHLY encouraged, but not required! Click the link below to pre-register!

2021-2022 Season

2021-2022 Season

Thank you SO MUCH to all of you for helping to make our Open Greenhouse Skates and Tryouts such a success! We had a great time, and we hope you did too. It looks like we will be fielding FIVE teams for the 2021 - 2022 season!

We will be sending out skater placement emails by Wednesday, May 19th, at the latest. Each email will contain important information about the season including what team you have been offered placement on, a comprehensive practice calendar for the season, an outline of planned competitions and performances for the season, the team handbook, and cost information. Before skaters make the decision to commit to a synchro team for a year, we want to make sure you have all the necessary information, and that is why it takes a little time to put together our offer emails.

To help you start planning for the summer months, we will be starting summer training in June. It will run in June and July on Friday evenings from 6:10 - 7:10 pm. We know that people vacation over the summer months, so attendance will be highly encouraged, but not mandatory. These summer sessions will also be opened up to skaters outside of our organization who want to try synchro, or work on specific skills.

We still have open spots on all of our teams for the season, so there are spots for everyone! We're looking forward to another amazing season!

Gardens Synchronicity Open Greenhouse and Tryouts!

If you answered YES to any of these questions, then we want YOU! Skaters of ALL ages and ALL abilities are encouraged to come skate with Gardens Synchronicity and learn what synchronized skating is all about! All events will take place at our home rink, The Gardens Ice House, in Laurel, MD.

First, we will be hosting two Open Greenhouse events. The Open Greenhouse events are completely FREE to attend, and a great way to give synchronized skating a try! You will meet the coaches and current skaters, participate in drills, and learn some synchro skills. Just like gardeners know they need to start their seeds in a warm greenhouse before they grow into beautiful, healthy plants, we know that if you plant the seeds of synchronized skating at our Open Greenhouse events, you will grow into beautiful, life-long synchro skaters! We welcome you to join us on Friday, April 9th and Friday, April 16th between 6:10 and 8:05 pm for one or both of our Open Greenhouse events. You MUST preregister for the Open Greenhouse events by signing up on this form. Once registered, you will receive an email with the time you are to attend, and some other safety information.

After our Open Greenhouse events, we hope that you will want to skate with us this season! We will be fielding teams for skaters of all ages and abilities, so EVERYONE is welcome. In addition to our beginner teams, sectional teams, and national teams, we are pleased to continue offering our Synchro Class/Performance Team this season. So, whether you want to compete all over the country, or just have fun and perform locally for friends and family, there is a team for you at Gardens Synchronicity!

Tryouts for the 2021 – 2022 season will occur on Friday, April 23rd and Friday, April 30th between 6:10 and 8:05 pm. The cost for tryouts is $50 per skater, and while skaters are encouraged to come to both days of tryouts, we hope to see skaters at both days. You MUST preregister for Tryouts by signing up on this form (it’s the same form for the Open Greenhouse events, so there is no need to sign up more than once). Once registered, you will receive an email with the time you are to attend, and some other safety information.

If you would like to skate with Gardens Synchronicity for the 2021 – 2022 season, but are unable to attend the Open Greenhouse or Tryout Events, please still fill out the form and indicate your interest. 2020 TRY SYNCHRO DAY!

DO YOU LOVE ICE SKATING? DO YOU LIKE MEETING NEW PEOPLE AND BEING PART OF A TEAM? 

If you answered yes to any of these questions, come to our upcoming TRY SYNCHRO DAY!

Try Synchro Day is a great way for skaters of ALL ages and abilities to give synchronized skating a try! We will be learning different synchronized skills, as well as how to do each different synchro element including circles, lines, wheels, and blocks! Not only is this a great way to learn about the sport, but a great way to meet other skaters who share similar interests. Best of all, this event is totally FREE! Whether you are an experienced synchro skater or have never tried it, please join us at The Gardens Ice House in Laurel, MD. There are two days available based on skater age and test level.

Skaters 18 and Older - Friday, March 20 6:10pm – 7:40 pm

Skaters Under 18 passed Pre-Preliminary and Above – Saturday, March 21 6:00am – 7:50 am
Skaters Under 18 who have not passed a Moves Test – Saturday, March 21 7:00am – 7:50 am

Welcome to the 2019 – 2020 Season!

It’s hard to believe that another synchronized skating season is starting! Gardens Synchronicity is proud to be entering our 5th season – highlighted by the five teams we will be fielding this year! We are very excited to continue to have Open Juvenile, Pre-Juvenile, Synchro Skills, and Open Masters lines, and are pleased to add an Open Adult line this season as well!

We were so pleased to have such a HUGE turnout at both our inaugural “Try Synchro Day” event, and tryouts. “Try Synchro Day” was exactly what the name implies, a chance to give synchronized skating a try. There is a lot of information out there about synchronized skating, but we believe that the best way to get a feel for this sport, is to get out and try it! Once you have skated in a line, it’s hard to imagine skating any other way! The other nice part about this event was that it was completely free; a rarity in the skating world!

After two days of tryouts, our coaching staff was able to decide on the best level teams our growing organization could field. Our Open Juvenile line will be coached by me, Kim Dawe, and assisted by Amy Lanier. Pre-Juvenile will be coached by Kate Kreyling, a new addition to our coaching staff, and assisted by Amy Lanier. Synchro Skills will be coached by Anna Nykiel and Cary Russell-Canaan. Our Open Masters Team will be coached by Amy Lanier and Open Adult coached by me!

If you would like to give synchronized skating a try, but you missed “Try Synchro Day” or tryouts, don’t fret! There are still limited spots remaining on all of our teams, which means you can come give synchro a try or even tryout for one of our teams! Spring training starts in May, and while each of the teams will be focusing on improving their skills, they will also be working together to become a cohesive unit. Spring Skills sessions would be a great time to give synchronized skating a try!
